Obituary- Burton Leon Tate

Obituary: Burton Leon Tate

Burton Leon Tate, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2003.

He was born January 18, 1923 in Richfield, Utah the son of Edwin Franklin and Florence Morrison Horne Tate. He married his loving wife, Lois Jeanne Brimley, August 22, 1944 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they raised eight children. His family was the love and joy of his life.

He was a builder/contractor, designing many of the houses he built. He had many creative interests and was eager to take on new challenges. He sang with the Swanee Singers for 35 years.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in many ward and stake positions. He enjoyed serving as a host on Temple Square and as a Salt Lake Temple worker for many years.

Survived by his wife and children, Jeanne (Larry) Ludlow, Leon (Eileen) Tate, Gayle (Michael) Rafferty, Sher-man (Denese) Tate, Douglas (Stacey) Tate, Patricia Tate, Shauna (Ron) Ruske, David (Lynn) Tate; 40 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard, Boyd; and sister, Marjorie Kelson.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at 12 noon, Wells Ward Chapel, 1975 South 500 East. Viewing Tuesday, December 16, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, SLC, and Wednesday, 11-11:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
