Obituary- Gerald E. Tate

Gerald E. (Gary) Tate, 86, passed away July 27, 2000, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born October 17, 1913, in Richfield, Utah, the son of Edwin F. and Florence Morrison Horne Tate. Gary attended schools in Richfield, Bear River (Tremonton), and graduated from South High School. He played football at Bear River High School, South High School and Westminster Jr. College, earning honors. Gary was also a member of the wrestling team earning honors in this sport also. He served a two year mission for the LDS Church in the Central States Mission including eastern Kansas and Missouri. It was here that he met his beloved sweetheart, Ruth. He married Ruth Beagley April 28, 1938. They are parents of five children. He worked in lumber and hardware. His hobbies include reading, hunting, fishing, golf, and crafts. He served in several LDS ward and stake positions. He and his wife Ruth served a mission in eastern Texas 1977 to 1979.
Gary is survived by daughter, Diane Tate Ogden; three sons, Warren G. (Suzanne), Douglas B. (Milissa) and Robert L. (Mary Ann); 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Howard C. (Carol), Boyd R. (Thelma), Burton L. (Jeanne); sister: Marjorie (Ralph) Kelson. Preceded in death by wife Ruth; son Richard Gary Tate; brothers Roland Wyatt, Stanford; sisters Helen, Leah; and parents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2000, 11 a.m. at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 East 7800 South. Friends may call Tuesday evening 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services.
