THELMA TATE- obituary
Thelma Andrus Tate Loving Wife & Mother Thelma Estelle Andrus Tate, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, September 14, 2010. Thelma was born February 24, 1931; the youngest child of Benjamin F. Andrus and Bertha S. Wright. She grew up in Draper, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School in 1949. She and her eternal companion Boyd R. Tate were sealed September 25, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Thelma lived life to the fullest. She radiated a joy that drew others to her and she loved and cared for them with selfless grace. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings throughout her life and she had a strong testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Thelma is survived by her husband Boyd and children: Rick (Lanette), Ken, Tana (Niels) Fugal, Brian (Marla), Karon Haraldson, Leah (Carl) Allen, Darrell (Jennifer), Julie Reynolds, Cindy (Brian) Cunningham, 37 grandchildren and 29 great-grand children. She is also survived by her brother DeVon F. Andrus (Joanne). Preceded in death by her parents, 11 siblings and one grandson. A viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17 at the Larkin Mortuary 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18 at the Emerald Ward Chapel, 1325 East Cherry Lane, Layton, Utah. Friends may call upon the family an hour before the service. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. The family would like to thank the staff of Manor Care Health Center and Legacy Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
